Gavin Day 46

These photos are from last week when we hung out with our great friends Brooks, SJ, Elizabeth and Camden. Gavin & Camden are only 6 weeks apart and we hope they will be best buds. We are very thankful for our friendship with this sweet family!

Gavin - Day 45 - Mommy's Little Pumpkin!

Gavin enjoyed a Halloween bonfire with my family tonight. He loved being passed around while everyone told him how cute he was! This kid is so easy to take places because he is so good and rarely ever fusses.

Gavin Day 44

SuperGavin went to a Halloween playgroup today! There were about 25 babies and their mommies all dressed up in their costumes. We had lots of fun and enjoyed spending time with Brant.

Gavin Day 43

Gavin is growing so fast! We fall more in love with him everyday. He smiles, giggles, and loves to kick his legs. Gavin looked so cute in his "Baby's First Halloween" outfit! He is going to a Halloween playgroup tomorrow, so be on the lookout for pics of Gavin in one of his Halloween costumes!

Gavin DAy 41

I originally wanted to post a video that I shot of Gavin during his bath, but we are having bad weather and the internet connection is not being very cooperative. Hopefully I can add the video to this post tomorrow. For now enjoy this photo.

Gavin got to take a bath in his tub without the little hammock that holds him up out of the water. He loves bath time. I'm so proud of my little guy!

We took Gavin to Mad Platter today and painted a plate with his little footprints. He slept pretty much the entire time, but woke up to check out the finished product. I can't wait to pick the plate up in a few days after it has been fired and glazed!

Gavin Day 38

We took Gavin to the Lexington BBQ festival today. Of course he chose to sleep through most of it. We enjoyed walking around looking at the different booths, shopping, live music and most of all, the food! We had to keep Gavin bundled up because it was a bit chilly when we got there. The photo below was my view from pushing the stroller.

Gavin Day 37

Gavin is such a cool dude. We went out to dinner, shopping and then drove to Kernersville to buy brittany an iPad and he behaved himself the whole time. We were gone about 4 hours and he never once cried! I snapped these on my phone while we were shopping... lucky kid. He gets to sleep through the shopping trip!

Day 36

Gavin Day 35

Gavin usually wakes up around 3am to be fed. This morning he had a very full diaper, so much so that poop was up his back and all over his PJs. I changed his diaper, wiped him off, and put him in clean PJs. He thought it was playtime and kept smiling. I got out the video camera because he was being so cute!

Day 34

Gavin is growing up so fast. He doesn't sleep as much anymore and loves to look around and smile. He makes the funniest little noises. We are loving every minute with our sweet baby boy!

Gavin Day 33

Whew! Brittany had to work hard for these photos tonight. Gavin hasn't slept much at all today so we finally got him to sleep and snapped these. We are going to try to get some more in this shirt tomorrow. But for now you can enjoy these!

My new paper backgrounds came in today so I was excited to try them out. I'm really loving this color.

Gavin Day 32

Sorry about missing a post yesterday! I was photographing a wedding in Atlantic beach, NC and was gone all day. When I got home at 1:20am Gavin was already in bed (of course). However I promise to make it up to you all with a super awesome post with lots of great photos in the next few days! Promise!

This photo is from yesterday taken by my mother-in-law Kathy. Brittany and Kathy took Gavin to the mountains for the day to do some shopping and sight-seeing. I was sad I had to miss out! I miss my little family when I have to be gone all day.

Gavin Day 30- One Month Old!!!

Gavin is one month old today! It's so hard to believe that he has been here that long. The past month of our life has been filled with so much joy thanks to our sweet baby boy. We are so blessed to be his parents.

We went out to dinner and a movie last night and left little Gavin with his wonderful Nana. It was difficult for Brittany and she shed a few tears, but we enjoyed our time together! When we got back, Gavin was sound asleep after a fun night. We knew he was in great hands.

Day 29

Yesterday Britt and I broke out Gavin's playmat and he loves it! He's getting so big too fast. Brittany says she wants to keep him this way forever. I guess we'll have to see about that... good luck stopping him from growing!

Day 23 - The Labor Story

My labor story is crazy, but I have a healthy baby so it was worth it! My doctor suggested that I be induced because I have metal rods in my back and he was worried if Gavin got any bigger that my labor would be too difficult for my back. I was admitted to the hospital on Monday night to be induced, but didn't start pitocin until Tuesday morning. Within an hour of being on pitocin, my contractions were 2-3 minutes apart and very strong. The doctor tried to break my water about 3 times and he couldn't get it. He also told us that he scrapped Gavin's head in the process. I was only dilated to a 2 at this point. For 8 hours I labored with contractions 1-2 minutes apart. I got up and walked around the room, used the birth ball, and sat on the edge of the bed to manage the pain without any meds. After 8 hours of painful back labor, I had only dilated to a 3. The doctor was finally able to break my water after a few more tries. At this point, I opted for the epidural because I knew that my labor was far from over. The doctor told me that you typically dilate a centimeter an hour, so I had at least 7 hours left. I continued to be in labor for the next 16 hours with contractions continuing at 1-2 minutes apart, but I had the epidural so I didn't really feel anything. I still had only dilated to a 6. During my labor, Gavin's heart rate would drop really low and I would have to go on oxygen. Other times, his heart rate would speed up and I had to change positions. After 24 hours of being in labor, Gavin's heart stopped beating completely. Nurses ran in the room, put me on oxygen, flipped my bed so my head was down and my feet were up, inserted an internal monitor, and pushed on my belly to try to get the heart rate back up. After about three minutes of having no heartbeat, the nurses were able to get Gavin stabilized and the doctor came in to tell me it was time for a Csection. Aaron got suited up and we headed to the operating room. Within about 15 minutes, Gavin was born! I couldn't see him at first because his arms and legs were blue and he wasn't crying. He went into another room where the doctors made sure he was ok. I was finally able to see him a few minutes later. He was born with a huge cone head from me being in labor for so long and he had several scrapes on his head from the internal monitor. After all of that, he scored a 9 on his Apgar test! He has been amazing and we are so thankful that he is healthy!
